A chutney is a seasoning from Indian and Pakistani cuisine. In the countries of origin, chutney is usually freshly prepared, with whatever strong-flavored ingredients happen to be available. Herbs and seasonings such as vinegar, ginger, mustard seeds, garlic, pepper, and onion are added to a base of fruit puree. Herbs such as fenugreek, coriander, and cumin are also used. In addition to being spicy, the chutney often tastes sweet due to added sugar, and sour due to vinegar.
Delicious in a wrap with chicken, turkey or scampi. Or in the wok. Delicious with pates, game, meat dishes. Or combine our chutneys with a piece of delicious cheese.
